Many industrial and lumber railroads ran steam engines with unusual cylinder arrangements, namely the Shay, Climax and Hiesler. The Shay was the most common and hence, you can still see them operating in such tourist locations as the Cass Scenic Railroad and the National Museum of Science and Technology.
Listen as BigSound™ reproduces the shuffle of this unique cylinder arrangement.
Hear also the Westside Shay, the 38 Ton Shay and the 55 Ton Shay.
