Alco RSD


    The RSD is powered by the Alco 539, a 6-cylinder 4 stroke turbocharged engine. The 539 has an unmistakeable chirp to its turbo and an idle that flutters.
    This engine is suitable for the RSD, S1, S2, S3 and S4 locomotives.
   These 4 stroke engines had a characteristic knocking sound at idle and low speeds. At higher rpm's, the diesel prime mover sounded much like our 4 stroke Alco 's.		 Alco S4
