EMD E Series

The EMD E8 was produced originally as a passenger locomotive from 1949 through 1953. 2,250 hp powered this popular loco by using two EMD 567B 12 cylinder engines, each of which powered their own generator for traction motors.
The E9 offered some improvements but were almost identical in appearance to the E8. The E7 earned the E7,E8 and E9 the designation of bulldog nose engines.
Many E units survive today, both in museums and as active excursion service engines.
Listen as BigSound™ recreates the unique startup and shut down sequence of the dual 12 cylinder EMD 567B prime movers that gave the E series their power!
